Letterman's either ramping it up for publicity or he's personalizing this incident just a smidgen, like you said. I used to love his show and attended a taping of it once. It seemed as though I was the only black person in the audience, and he made eye contact with me and I felt uncomfortable. I was hoping he wouldn't crack a joke about me. Who cares if McCain was a no-show? That guy is boring anyway. One curmudgeon on the show is enough.
Do you remember when he would get on Oprah about not appearing on his show; he would not let it go. But it all ended well, in McCain's case he is REALLY BITTER....
It's called the "David Letterman Show"..so its always personal. And any comedian will milk a situation if he has an audience. To cancel at the 11th hour and then interview with an affiliate...Oy Vey. That's a major faux paux in show business. Let him hammer McCain now until Nov. 8th if he wants...its works to Obama's advantage. VAL-JOYNER
